Congratulations to Sue Ann Rogers, the 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year for Marlboro County School District. She began her student teaching in first grade at McColl Elementary Middle School in 2009, moved to a long-term substitute teacher at the end of 2009 through early 2010. Ms. Rogers was later hired as a first-grade teacher. She is currently teaching Kindergarten at MEMS.
Ms. Rogers stated, “we must meet and teach our children where they are, regardless of their grade level or prior knowledge. However, I believe that intervening early and closing achievement gaps sooner makes it better for all of us. Academic achievement, behavior and self-esteem improve with early interventions.”
